Gloria Arline Guminski, 88, passed away peacefully on Jan 31, 2012 at Peterson Meadows Retirement Community, Rockford. Arline was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Royalton to George and Gertrude (Brown) Palmer. She married Mitchell Guminski on June 1, 1952, in First Baptist Church, Christopher. He died on Jan. 3, 1992. She worked at GTE/Verizon for 30 years, retiring on July 6, 1984. She was a member of Coventry Baptist Church, Fort Wayne, IN. She enjoyed baking, sewing, drawing and painting. Her family meant the world to her. Survivors include one son, George Michael (Linda) Guminski of Normal; two daughters, Mitzi (Denny) Streid of Rockford and Tami (Cary) Parker of Cumming, GA; four grandchildren: Kira and David Guminski of Normal, Valerie Parker of West Lafayette, IN, Mitchell Parker of Cumming, GA: one brother, Elmer Palmer of Granbury, TX; special nieces and nephews, Diane (Paul) Johnson of Texico and Joe Davis, Alicia (Kevin) Wade and Angela (John) Sutheard all of Petersburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Valerie; sister, Dorles Curry; four brothers, Orville, Ed, Hubert, and Averill Palmer. Services will be on Saturday at 11:00am in the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Interment will be in New Miner’s Cemetery near Royalton. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00am on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coventry Baptist Church, 10926 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814.
