Danny Holmes

Mr. Danny Holmes, , age 60, of Herrin, IL, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at 1:52am at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born in Carbondale September 3, 1952 to Donald and Shelby (Tripp) Holmes. Danny was married to Pamela (Gibbs) Holmes on June 4, 2000 she survives. Danny owned and operated Holmes Concrete and Construction with his partner John Finney. Danny loved to go on long rides on his Harley with his wife and friends. Survivors are his wife of 12 years his mother of Herrin, 2 sons Tim Holmes of Herrin, Cory Beers of Johnston City; 1 daughter Kelcie Beers of Herrin, two grandsons Timmy Holmes and Kyler Morgan both of Herrin and 1 grand daughter Gracie Beers of Johnston City. Also surviving is Mother and Father-in-law Boe Joe and Shirley Shadowens of Johnston City, 3 sisters Carolyn Jordan, Donna and husband Kenny Swan and Tina and husband Rick Mann all of Herrin. In his family's words, He was a wonderful and loving man whom dedicated his last six months of his life taking care of his grandson Kyler who became the light of his life. He loved his family as we loved him. He will be greatly missed by all. Memorial can be made to MDA on behalf of his great nephews Thomas and Jerry Swan, envelopes will be provided by the funeral home. Funeral will be Friday at 11:00am at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Rev. Chris Hammonds will officiate. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery.
