Kenneth Mize

HERRIN -- Kenneth "Rick" Mize Jr., 56, of Dittmer, Missouri, formerly of Herrin, died on Friday, July 25, 2014, at his residence. Born Friday, July 11, 1958, in Platte Smith, Nebraska, to Kenneth and Sandra (Simmons) Mize. They preceded him in death. He was the husband of Laurie (Meggs) Mize of Dittmer and she survives. Other survivors include two children, Amanda and husband, Jason McIntyre of St. Louis and Brandon Mize of Energy; his stepmother, Dorothy Mize of Hurst; eight siblings,Connie and husband Steve Pochie of Hurst, Robert and Susan Mize of Festus, Missouri, Ron and Deanna Mize of Bloomsdale, Missouri, Teresa and Kevin Chandler of Royalton, Jamie and Christina Massey of Carbondale, Tony Richter of Royalton, James Jarvis of Carterville, Sherman Jarvis of Royalton and Mary Clay of Bush; three grandchildren, Aiden and Maddie McIntyre and Ethan Mize, all of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mize served seven years in the Army and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Missouri. Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 31 in Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in Cundiff Cemetery in Colp, with military rites performed by American Legion and the VFW post of Herrin. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
