William H. Darter

Mr. William H. Darter, age 81, of Carterville IL, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL. He was the son of the late John Darter and the late Philippa Sheer. He was born in Herrin IL April 24, 1927. He is survived by his wife Mary (Camarato) Holden Darter of Carterville IL. Three Sons: Mr. Lonnie Darter and wife Louella, West Frankfort, IL William H. Darter Jr. and wife Barb of Herrin IL, Keith Darter and wife Gayle of Herrin IL. Also surviving is 7 grand Children: Tresa Hastings and Dwayne Mangrum of Johnston City IL, Karen and Jeremy Oakley of Marion IL, Christie and Tresa Robinson, of Johnston City IL, Judy and Doug Keeling on Herrin IL, William H. Darter III of Herrin IL, Keith Darter Jr. of Johnston City IL, Lonnie Darter of Benton IL . 17 Great Grand Children. Mr. Darter was preceded in death by his 1st wife Lillie Mae Darter, son Charles Darter grand child Penny Darter, and Parents. Mr. Darter was employed as a Carpenter and served in the Navy. Military rites will be provided by American Legion and V.F.W. post of Herrin IL. Arrangements are being handled by Van Natta Funeral Home, 427 South Park, Herrin, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 31, 2008. Funeral service will be at Van Natta Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2008, Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be at Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL.
