Marilyn Mathers

Marilyn Mathers, 88 of Tuscola, passed away at Presence Hospital, Champaign, IL on June 11, 2016. Marilyn was born on December 17, 1927 in Herrin, IL the daughter of William and Nila (Gordon) Francis. Marilyn married Merle Mathers in 1946 and had two children Denny and Vicki. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Harriss, (Tom) of Tuscola, IL. Grandchildren Scott Branca and Allison Branca, step grandchildren Abbie Harriss and Elliot Harriss, and 8 great grandchildren, all of Tuscola, IL. Sister Marion Profitt (Lavern) of Herrin, 3 nieces also of Herrin and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Dennis Mathers, parents, two brothers and one sister. Marilyn greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, playing cards and watching baseball. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service directly following at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery.
