John Legan

Mr. John Legan, 84 of Herrin, Illinois died on Monday, November 16, 2009, at Shawnee Christian Rehab and Skilled care Center in Herrin, Illinois. Born Sunday, March 8, 1925 in Herrin to George and Myrtle (Blue) Legan. Surviving are wife Maria (Romeis) Legan, son, Mr. E. J. and wife Anne-Marie Legan of Herrin, IL. Grand Daughter Rhea and husband Rodney Allen of Stonington Ill., step granddaughter Melanie and husband Mike Bailey of Austin Texas, four great grand children, Selah , Chad, Zachary and Christian Allen. Also surviving is two sisters Mary Starnes of Herrin and Ruth and husband Ike Hicks of DeSoto and several nieces and nephews and many friends.Mr. Legan was retired from Olin Corp in 1987. Mr. Legan served in the Army from 1943 to 1963. Military rites will be preformed by honor guard from the American Legion and V.F.W. post in Herrin. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday at Van Natta Funeral Home located at 427 South Park Avenue Herrin, Illinois 62948 with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery, Herrin, IL. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, Illinois.
