On April 19, 2024, Brandy Michelle Joplin Whitecotton peacefully departed from this world at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with her beloved family by her side. She graced this world on August 21, 1973, born to the loving embrace of Nickie Benedict Joplin and Edward Eugene Joplin in Parsons, Kansas. A defining moment in her life was when she found her "Forever Dad," Rodney Lingle, on April 24, 1985.
In the journey of life, she joined hands in marriage with Kevin Whitecotton on June 29, 2017. Together they created a home filled with love and memories in Marion, IL. Brandy leaves behind a cherished blended family whom she adored deeply. To her, family was not solely about blood ties but about the bonds of love and choice.
Her legacy is carried on by her devoted husband Kevin Whitecotton of Marion IL; Parents Rodney and Nickie Lingle of Jonesboro IL; Two daughters Alyssa Barker (James) of Mayfield Ky and Brenda Rombaut of Herrin IL; Three sons Dalton Whitecotton (Morgan Vaughn) of Marion IL, Travis Wright (Macey Haun) of Carterville IL, Shane Wright of Marion IL; Six grandchildren Jillian and Caleb Barker; Gabriel, Brayden, Liam, and Kyson Rombaut; Two sisters Amy Lingle of Anna IL and Jennifer Velasgues (Robert) of Jonesboro IL; Uncle Stan Benedict of Tulsa OK; Aunts Terrie Pearson (Richard) of Parsons KS and Robin Rowe of Tulsa OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brandy's days were brightened by the presence of a very special best friend who was also her cousin Deanna Myers (Donavan) of Herrin IL. While she bid farewell to loved ones who had passed before her including all grandparents, two uncles Randall Whitson and Dennis Whitson, sister Nicole Renee Lingle, and niece Madison Jade Stone.
A shining example of love and kindness, Brandy's essence illuminated the lives around her. Her heart overflowed with affection for her family and friends as she reveled in joyful moments shared with her grandchildren and fur babies. Her unwavering faith was evident through her deep study of the Bible and her profound love for God.
The legacy of Brandy Michelle Joplin Whitecotton will be celebrated at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, IL on a day that honors her life – filled with family visitation at 9:00 a.m., followed by public visitation at 10:00 a.m., culminating in a heartfelt service at 11:00 a.m. presided over by Donnie Colson. She will find eternal rest at Herrin Cemetery following the service.
