DeWayne Hillman, 57, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, at his residence in Hurst, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His passing leaves a profound impact on his family, friends, and colleagues.

Born on August 2, 1967, DeWayne is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Reveal; his parents, Paul and Glenda Hillman; his sister, Kristy Bevins; and his children Kara Jarvis (Derrick) and Danielle Hillman (Dalton Chumbler). He was also a proud grandfather to Madison Reveal, Torin Chumbler, Barrett Jarvis, and Emerson Hillman. In addition, he is mourned by his mother-in-law, Sharon Reveal; sister-in-law, Kerri Massura (Thad); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Sherry Kim; father-in-law, Arthur Reveal; brother-in-law, Kevin Reveal; and his beloved dog, Titan.

DeWayne was a Johnston City High School graduate who dedicated his career to various roles, including positions at Maytag, Novacom, Mermet Springs Diving Center, and Rend Lake Search and Rescue. He served as a volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Hurst Fire Department and Franklin County EMA. Most recently, he was the Lead Custodian at Carterville CUSD #5.

His adventurous spirit led him to pursue activities such as skydiving and scuba diving, while he found joy in riding his motorcycle and working on his cherished Tacoma. Often seen in his pole barn, DeWayne engaged in numerous projects and operated his HAM radio, reflecting his passion for various hobbies.

DeWayne was known for his warm heart, selfless nature, and commitment to putting others first. He approached life with fearless determination and an unparalleled work ethic. A true jack of all trades, he possessed the ability to fix anything that came his way.

His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
