Gordon Smith

Mr. Gordon (Frog) Smith, 74 of Herrin Illinois, died Saturday ,July 25, 2020 at the Herrin Hospital. He born in Sturgis Kentucky to John Smith and Mollie (Price) Schaefer they preceded him in death. He was married to Sylvia (Burford) Smith and she survives of Herrin. Mr. Smith is survived by 3 children; Lori and husband Wesley Franklin of North Richland Hills Texas, Gordy and wife Lani of Herrin and Tommy also of Herrin. Also surviving is 1 sister, Clarice Chamness of Johnston City ,1 brother Herbert and wife Kim of Thompsonville and 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was a Lineman for CIPS and was a Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. A memorial service will be held at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin at 11:00 am Wednesday July 29, 2020. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of service Rev. Glen Aulgur will officiate. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery with full military rites. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association or to National Breast Cancer Foundation.
