Grace Hoskins Grace was born February 27, 1918 in Bismarck, IL and passed away on January 29, 2019 with her family by her side. Grace was raised in Danville, IL where she graduated from high school. She met the love of her life, General Hoskins, of which they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Shortly after getting married, General got a job with Taylor Transfer in Kankakee, IL were they had two children. From there they bought a farm in Salem, IN where they all enjoyed working on a dairy farm. In the early 1960’s the family moved back to Kankakee where she retired from St. Mary’s Hospital. In 1980, Grace and General moved to Herrin, IL to enjoy their retirement. She devoted her talents to the community through her membership of the First United Methodist Church of Herrin. Grace was an avid gardener that was known for her beautiful flowers. One of her favorite pastimes was china painting. She crafted many beautiful pieces that became family heirlooms. Preceding Grace in death are her husband General Hoskins; son, Jerry Hoskins; and two brothers, Robert and Franklin. Left to cherish many memories are her son, Floyd Hoskins and wife Janie; six grandchildren, Brad, Jeff, Daniel, Grace, David, and John; 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and many other family members. Grace’s faith in the Lord was very important to her. Her legacy will continue through many more generations. Funeral service will be Saturday February 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service, burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Kankakee.
