Lloyd Excel Parsons

Lloyd Excel Parsons Jr. passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at the age of 79 in his home surrounded by his children.
 
Lloyd was born on December 6, 1943 in Pensacola, Florida. Lloyd joined the United States Navy on June 28, 1962 and retired after 22 years as an Aviation Fighter Control Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer. He married his late wife, Catalina Bandola (Tanada) Parsons on July 27, 1969 in Subic, Zambales in the Philippines.  
 
After retirement, Lloyd worked as a Computer Technician for a private company and resided in Herrin in 1985. He was a Foster Parent to many teenagers and was awarded Foster Parent of the Year in 1988.
 
Anyone who met him knew he could talk about anything and everything. He still loved to travel to foreign countries by going on cruises with many of his friends. He also enjoyed going to Las Vegas for the different shows and play or lose on the Craps table. His favorite past time was golfing with his friends where they solved all of life’s problem with each game.
 
He is survived by his children, Emilia Tanada Kutterer and her husband George Kutterer of Belleville, IL., Martin Tanada Parsons Sr. of Herrin, IL., Frederick Tanada Parsons and his wife Remifrances Parsons of Loveland, CO., Evelyn Dalton and her husband David Dalton of Huggins, MO; nine grandchildren, Leilani Landry and her husband Chris Landry of Colombia, IL., Martin Tanada Parsons Jr. and his wife Kim Parsons of San Diego, CA., Briyana Nicole Kimbrough of Tampa, FL., Michael Dalton of Bremerton, WA., Patrick Kimbrough Sr. of Suffolk, VA., Christian Parsons of Loveland, CO., and Luna Parsons of Loveland, CO.; two great grandchildren, Marlina Landry of Columbia, IL. and Patrick Kimbrough Jr. of Suffolk, VA.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Sue Cotterman and her husband Sid Cotterman of Lone Jack, MO. and Pamela Jean Hustad and her husband Michael Hustad of Lee’s Summit, MO.; brother,  Hugh Alan Parsons of Peculiar, MO.; and many nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Catalina after 25 years of marriage and his parents.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Van Natta Funeral Home, Herrin, Illinois with burial in the Herrin Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm.
