Mrs. Shirley (Ogden) Orso, age 81, of Herrin, Il, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Shirley attended school in Herrin and worked for several local businesses before quitting to focus on raising her children. In the 80’s she owned and operated a clothing store, Orso’s Ladies Wear. She enjoyed running her own business and getting to work with customers for several years before quitting to spend time with her grandchildren. She was loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Shirley was born in Herrin July 28, 1940 to Virgil and Edith (Ridings) Ogden. Shirley married William Orso on July 3, 1959. He preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage. She is survived by son Tony and wife Denise Orso of Marion, Il, daughters Sara and husband Kevin Ranchino of Herrin, Angi and husband Aaron Fouste of Waterloo, Il., Maribeth and husband Daniel Kay of Herrin. Also surviving are grandchildren Bart and wife Noah Orso of Marion, Il, Britta and husband Joey Johnson of Spring Hill, Tn, Amanda and Kyle Ranchino of Herrin, Il, Mercedes and husband Justin Eberlin of Bethalto, Il, Chase Guercio of Waterloo, Il, Savannah Guercio of Carterville, Il, and Rusty Kay of Herrin, Il. Great grandchildren; Gia, Lenix, and Louie Orso of Marion, Il, Cash Johnson of Spring Hill Tn, Morgan Eberlin, Dawson Ingersoll, Zoe and Barrett Eberlin of Bethalto, Il., sisters June Frizzell of Gainesboro, Tn, Marie and husband Loyd Switzer of Herrin, brother Kenny and wife Dixie Ogden of Herrin, and sister-in-law Liz Ogden of Herrin, 2 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Amy Ann Orso, brother Randy Ogden, and infant brother Richard Ogden. Arrangements are being handled by Van Natta Funeral Home, Herrin, Il. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday May 18, 2022 at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be at Egyptian Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm also at the Van Natta Funeral Home.
